Children’s Robes

Children’s robes are a safety brief before anything else. There are no cords at the neck on anything we make for a child, and hoods are shaped rather than corded, because a cord at a child’s neck is a snag hazard.

The belt is the second thing. A belt that pulls out of its loops ends up on the floor, in a pool, or nowhere at all, so the loops are sewn through the panel rather than tacked to the surface, and we can supply a belt attached at the back for younger bands.

Sizing is by age band with a stated post-wash length for each, not small, medium and large across four year groups. We print the band on the label and on the bag so a resort or a swim school can hand them out by sorting rather than fitting.

Do they have drawstring hoods?

Not on children’s sizes. A cord at a child’s neck is a snag hazard, so hoods are shaped instead. Adult sizes can have a corded hood if you want one.

How do we stop the belts going missing?

Sewn-through loops rather than tacked ones, and on the younger bands a belt attached at the centre back so it cannot leave the robe. It is the single most common complaint about children’s robes and it is a construction fix.
